Eleanor Louise Gibbs, 85, of Murphysboro, died at 8:02 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2001 at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
She was a member of Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro, Murphysboro Senior Citizens, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Jackson County Farm Bureau. She was a homemaker.
She was born in Ava Thursday, March 2, 1916 to Benjamin Harrison and Velma Ora Harriss Wilson.
She married Hallie Gibbs June 19, 1935 in Chester. He preceded her in death October 6, 1973.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Jim D. and Sandra Gibbs of Farmer City, Illinois, Harold W. and Marlene Gibbs of Murphysboro, Hallie H. and Karen Gibbs of Jefferson City, Missouri and Bernard L. and Denise Gibbs of Columbia, Illinois; one daughter and son-in-law, P. Suzette and Tom Boldwin of Bourbonnaise, Illinois; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bernard H Wilson.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2001 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Ava with Rev. Mark Wingo officiating. Burial was in Ava Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro or First Baptist Church of Ava.
