June Edwards Drummond went home to be with the Lord Sunday, March 20, 2011, while being hospitalized at Northeast Mississippi Medical Center after a long and valiant battle with heart disease.

She was born June 1, in Tupelo, and married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, William Drummond, for 30 years.

June Edwards Drummond was a leader during her high school career at West Point High School, where she graduated in 1957. She was on the women's basketball team, assistant editor of the annual staff, homecoming maid, cheerleader, and Miss Senior. Active in First Baptist Church of West Point she served as a teacher in Sunbeams and vacation bible schools. Mrs. Drummond served as Clay County Easter Seals Chairman, Girls Scout Troop Organizer, and participated in the Home Demonstration Club, and Jaceettes.

The family moved to Tupelo, in 1972 and June became dedicated to service in her church, First Baptist Church Tupelo, where she served faithfully in youth and children's ministry.

Always devoted to her children she served as homeroom mother for many years, gave the most creative birthday parties, and large Easter Egg Hunts. It was her delight to give special and sentimental gifts to those she loved. June enjoyed crafting as a hobby.

She delighted in her grandchildren to which she committed a major part of her life. Spending time with them playing games, making cookies, traveling, and watching them play sports were her most favorite things to do. Her love for her family demonstrated in so many ways large and small is what she is most remembered for by her children and grandchildren.
