Caroline passed away Saturday afternoon August 6, 2011, following a short illness; surrounded by family. Born July 22, 1910, in South Wilmington, IL. Daughter of Dr. Charles David & Mina Apple Allison. Caroline attended Hanover College, graduated from Evanston Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1932 and Wesley Memorial Hospital with a degree in Clinical Pathology. Prior to moving to Rockford she worked as a bacteriologist for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Married Harry W. Cobb, October 7, 1944, he passed away January 1, 1973 after a 29 year union. During her working career she worked as a registered nurse and supervised the Medicare department at Rockford Blue Cross and Blue Shield where she retired in 1975. Caroline spent her retirement years exploring her passion of genealogy, where her research took her to many destinations across the country such Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, New England and Utah. Caroline's endless research enabled her to compile historical family information as far back as the Late 17th century. Caroline's other passion in life was her grandson, Ryan, who brought her great happiness. Caroline was a member of Phi Mu Sorority, DAR, and many genealogical societies. As a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Caroline worshiped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Caroline will be greatly missed.

Survived by son, David (Sue) of Caledonia; grandson, Ryan of Oklahoma; stepdaughter, Joan (Lester) Holt of Rockford; nephew, Vern (Suzanne) Bally of Bonnefield, IL; niece, Jane (Jack) Harper, Denver, CO; sister-in-law, Maxine Allison; nephew, Don Toedt of Dallas TX. Predeceased by parents; husband, Harry; brother, Dr. Charles E. Allison; sisters, Nina Allison and Mary Allison Bally. A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2821 N. Bell School Rd., Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 1:30pm, followed by cake and coffee in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be established for Hanover College. A private service of interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., Rockford.
