Mary was the fifth of seven children born to Augustus Reinhardt 'Guss' and Jennie A. (Rabb) Boyd. She married David Wray Whisnant and they were the parents of four children: Jennie Wray, Patsy Boyd, Mary Frances and David Weldon.

Mrs. Mary Boyd Whisnant of Silverleaf Rd. died Friday, Aug. 22, 1975 in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 27, 1907 in Lenoir, N.C., daughter of the late Gustavis and Jenny A. Rabb Rhinehardt. Funeral service 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Harry and Bryant Chapel in the Oaks conducted by Rev. Cecil Myrick of Big Springs United Methodist Church with interment in Sharon Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, David W. Whisnant; three daughters, Mrs. L. G. Deitz, Jr., Mrs. Jenny W. Deitz, Mrs. Frankie Clark, all of Charlotte; one son, David W. Whisnant of Charlotte; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Harris and Mrs. Helen Hamby, both of Lenoir, N.C. and Mrs. Ruth Dellinger of Lincolnton, N.C.; four grandchildren. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Deitz Jr. 6704 Woodstock Rd.
