Carl 's family moved to to Duluth, Minnesota where his grandparents lived and then to Lethbridge Alberta Canada in 1909. Couldn't get a homestead there; so they moved to Chester, Montana and homesteaded. In 1925 the family moved back to Portland, Oregon. Carl Lived in Boring Oregon. He worked for M&M Door Factory, Libby, McNeil & Libby (1929-1937), Pacific Egg Co-op (1938-1941) and at the Oregon Ship Yard. He helped his mother farm the Boring property. The farm activities included chickens, strawberries, and hay. Carl also worked as a passenger carman for the Union Pacific Railroad in the Portland yard and as a freight carman at the Southern Pacific railroad Brooklyn yard.. He retired in 1969. He and Lois, his wife, moved to Otis, Oregon in 1973.
