Charles V. Walters, 80, plastering contractor here for more than 55 years, died Friday afternoon at Bartholomew county hospital. He had been in failing health for 10 years and seriously ill two weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Reed funeral home at 3:15 o'clock Monday afternoon by the Rev, Clarence Harden. Burial will be at Garland Brook cemetery. Casket will be open at the funeral home afternoon Sunday. Mr. Walters was born in Brown county Jan. 25, 1883, the son of William and Hilean Harden Walters, He had lived in Columbus 64 years and retired from the plastering business in 1955.His home was at 212 South Cherry street. He was married Nov. 29, 1919, to the former Miss Gladys Ward, who survives. Other survivors are three sons, Charles T. Walters of Indianapolis, Donald E. Walters of Columbus, and Billy Lee Walters of Phoenix, Ariz.; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Armstrong of Indianapolis, Mrs. Betty Johnson of Route 5, Mrs. Mary M. Combest of Elizabethtown and Mrs. Patty Allman of Route 7, 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth, in 1930 and nine brothers and a sister.
