Tim F. Hamlett, 79, of rural Arlington, Iowa died on Wednesday morning, November 9, 2011 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 14, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church, Arlington with Rev. Paul Fohs officiating. Visitation: 1 to 5 P.M. on Sunday at the church and for one hour before services on Monday at the church. Interment: Union Cemetery, Putnam Township, rural Aurora, Iowa. Military Graveside Rites by the Aurora American Legion Honor Guard. A Memorial Fund has been established. Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Arlington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Tim F. Hamlett was born on February 29. 1932 at Manchester, Iowa, the son of Forest Fay and Helen (Schlumbohm) Hamlett. He graduated from Lamont Consolidated High School in 1949. Tim then attended Iowa State University at Ames. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War for two years. Tim returned to I.S.U. where he graduated in 1957. Tim was united in marriage to Myrna Sue Eden on September 1, 1957 at Hawkeye, Iowa. They later divorced. Tim married Phyllis (Wendt) Meisgeier on April 2, 1978 at Manchester, Iowa. Tim was a lifetime farmer, Cornelius Seed dealer and Ag-Bag dealer in the Arlington area. He enjoyed breeding, raising and showing Norwegian Fjord horses. Tim was a former Starmont School Board member, was a former 4-H leader, a member of the Holstein Association, the Aurora American Legion and St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed dancing, gardening and attending his grandchildren's sporting and school events.

Tim is survived by his Children: Lisa (Stewart) Byrne of Boca Raton, Florida Matt (Jana) Hamlett of Arlington, Tom (Karen) Hamlett of Arlington, Mark (Jenny) Hamlett of Aurora; Neal Hamlett of Madison, Wisconsin & Erin Hamlett and her mother, Phoebe Mills, both of Maynard; 3 Step Children: Jerry (Connie) Meisgeier and family, Jim (Carol) Meisgeier and family and Dennis (Kathy) Meisgeier and family; 13 Grandchildren: Myles Byrne, Jaclyne Hamlett Heller (Stacy), Jeanna Hamlett Spence (Craig), Alexia Hamlett, Austin Hamlett, Halicia Hamlett, Kristin Hamlett, Sally Hamlett, Cynthia Hamlett, Vanessa Hamlett, Henry Hamlett, Louis Hamlett & Natalie Hamlett; Brother: Chuck (Jan) Hamlett of Lamont; 3 Sisters: Joanie Sellers of New York, Katherine Brown of Guttenberg & Kay (Andy) Lynch of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin and Many Nieces & Nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, first wife: Myrna on November 16, 1992, second wife: Phyllis on December 26, 1998, infant son: Gregg, infant brother and a sister: Joyce.
