Jesse J. Davis was born April 16, 1812, and died Feb. 1, 1904.
When eighteen years of age he was converted and united with the Salem Seventh-day Baptist church, with which he remained until the Green Brier church was organized, when he became one of its constituent members. Mr. Davis early manifested those traits of thrift and frugality which characterized his life, and made it possible for him to come into possession of quite a large property. He lived to a great age, and all through the years of his active life he was looked upon as one of the stalwart supporters of the church to which he belonged. Burial services were had from the Green Brier church Feb. 2, conducted by Pastor Witter, of Salem.
