Married three times and had one son (see 30072316); volunteered twice to serve during the Civil Way (4th Mass. Volunteer Infantry and the 38th Regiment Mass. Volunteer Infantry). He was a bootmaker by trade, and after the war he lived for a few years in Abington, MA with his widowed sister Julia, then in Boston where he remarried, and finally in Nashua, NH.
