ELMER RAY BREEDEN JR.
Elmer Ray Breeden Jr., 70, of Northport, Alabama, formerly of Thurmont, Maryland, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was the husband for 47 years of Alice Glass Breeden. Born in Warrenton, Virginia, on May 8, 1938, he was the son of the late Elmer Ray Breeden Sr. and Ophelia Mae Breeden. He served in the United States Army and was employed with State Farm Insurance for over 42 years, working in Regional offices in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Frederick, Maryland. He graduated from Frederick Community College and Wesley Theological Seminary and served as Pastor of Flint Hill United Methodist Church in Adamstown, Maryland. He is also survived by three daughters, Jeanette Rose and her husband, Paul, Sue Lawson and her husband, Harold, and Cynthia Nevin and her husband, Kris, all of Maryland; grandchildren, Christopher Rose, Benjamin Rose, Sara Lawson, Harlan Lawson, Kristin Nevin, Mikel Nevin, and Noah Nevin; and a great-granddaughter, Taylor Brooke Nevin. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nelson, Earnest and David; and grandson, Jonathon Rose and son-in-law, Darin Lloyd. A member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church in Yellow Springs, Maryland, and in recent years in Northport, he attended Christ Harbor United Methodist Church. He was also a life member of the Yellow Springs Lions Club in Yellow Springs, Maryland. He was a dedicated man of God, devoted husband, loving and caring dad, and granddad, He will be missed, but we celebrate his homecoming with the Lord. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Brook Hill United Methodist Church with a private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brook Hill United Methodist Church at 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702 or Yellow Springs Lions Club c/o Mike Main, 427 Center Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
