Lyons, Nov. 24.-David R. Alter, 75, former county treasurer and a pioneer farmer of this community, dropped dead with a stroke of apoplexy, just as he arrived home from a trip up town. Stepping into another room for an instant he collapsed, and immediately expired.
He located on a farm 1 1/2 miles south of Lyons 51 years ago. In 1903 he was elected county treasurer and since then has made his home in Lyons. The widow and three children survive, the latter, Mrs. E. A. Shumway, and Mrs. Guy Miller, both of Lyons, and Elwyn Alter, of Kansas City, Mo.
The funeral was held this afternoon from the Methodist church.
