Catherine J. Beckius, 92, of Shakopee, formerly of Jordan, died on Wednesday, March 22, at Friendship Manor in Shakopee.
Born at Jordan on April 15, 1896, Mrs. Beckius was a daughter of Casmer and Lena (Domler) Wermerskirchen. She attended school at Jordan.
On Jan. 23, 1917, Catherine Wermerskirchen and Alex Beckius were married at Jordan. They farmed at St. Joseph until 1946, when they moved to Shakopee.
Funeral services were held on March 27 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee, with the Rev. William Stalzman offering the Mass of Christian Burial, Interment was at St. Mark's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Wagner, Nick Wagner, Jr., Mark Muelken, John Muelken, Dick Sheehan and Kevin Sames.
Mrs. Beckius is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and Nick Wagner of Apple Valley, and Jean and Don Muelken of Richfield; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Mrs. Hildegard Schoenecker of New Prague. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Beckius; a son, Virgil Beckius; two daughters, Angela Sames and Larry [sic] Sheehan; and a grandson, Charles Sames. Also deceased are five brothers, Leo, Guido, Ernie, Peter and Francis Wermerskirchen; and a sister, Mrs. Ida Krautkremer.
