Ralph Banks, age 80 of Brookville, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville. He was born May 23, 1928, in Owsley County, Kentucky, the son of Andrew Jackson and Lola (Thomas) Banks. He was married to the former Norma L. Allen for nearly 58 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Fisher Body/GM where he was employed as an auto worker. He was a member of the Batesville Baptist Church and enjoyed walking, going to church, reading the Bible, playing his guitar and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Norma Banks; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Lisa Banks of Batesville; a daughter and son-in-law, Gina and John Moore of Brookville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Vernon Banks of Milford, Ohio, and Claude Banks of Brookville. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Banks; a sister, Opal Kruthaupt; and a brother, Elmer Banks. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, at Cook Funeral Home in Brookville with Rev. Roger Bates, Pastor of Batesville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville with military honors provided by the Brookville American Legion Post #77. Pallbearers were Danny Banks, John Moore, Earl Robinson, Kenney Allen, Alex Moore and Michael Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Cade Robinson and Paul Banks.
