His parents, Aden and Abigail Post, were natives of Connecticut, of English descent. He received a common-school education and was occupied 12 years of his early life as a ship carpenter. He was married in 1843 to Julia Manwaring, a native of Connecticut, of English descent. Mr. Post came to Kent county in 1858 and settled in Lowell twp. on a farm which he brought to a high degree of cultivation, second to none in the twp., and excelled by few in the county. He has had a successful career, and owned a half interest in one of the best business blocks in Lowell village
