William V. Rappleye, 81, of 352 W. 4th N., Orem, died in the Hardy Rest Home in Orem Wednesday at 11:20 pm, following a lingering illness. He was born at Central, Sevier County, Utah, July 17, 1882, a son of Ezra T. and Jane Black Rappleye. He married Mary L. Jolley in the St. George Temple, Aug. 10, 1903. He was a member of the LDS Church and held the office of high priest. He served as superintendent of the Sunday School and Mutual Improvement Association and was a group leader of the high priests. He was a farmer and stock man in Tropic following his marriage. He moved to Marysvale in 1930 where he farmed and served as mayor for four years. He worked for the US Forest Service as a supervisor over a civilian conservation camp. They moved to the Provo bench in 1939 where he operated a fruit farm.

Mr. Rappleye is survived by his wife and nine of his 12 children: A.V. Rappleye; Hilda Rappleye and Mrs. Verl (Helen) Kofford, all of Orem; Mrs. Rulon (Myrtle) Anderson, Spanish Fork; Dean and Ned of Murray; Rulon of Draper; Mrs. Glenn (Alta) Mullins, Livingston, Calif; Mrs. John (Maude) Tuft, San Bernardino, Calif; 37 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Maude King, Orem; Mrs. Henry (Mabel) Jolley, Provo; Mrs. Lillian Page, Milford; Mrs. Tony (Clarissa) Segura, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Florence Wilson, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held in the Orem Eighth Ward Chapel, 546 North 500 West, Saturday, 2 pm, with Bishop A.E. Carlson officiating. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary in Orem, 500 North State, Friday evening from 6 to 8 pm, and Saturday until 1:30 pm. Burial in the Orem City Cemetery.
