Carrie was the 8th of 10 children born to Joseph A. and Mary E. (Simcox) Linn. Her siblings were Martha Elizabeth (m. John Dancer), George Allison, Mary Emma (m. Riley Leach), Thomas Franklin, Robert Nelson, William H., Hattle Belle (m. Clinton Leach), Joseph Sidney and John Scott Linn.

Her grandparents were Thomas and Rachel Layman Linn; great grandparents were Andrew and Martha (Polk) Linn and Michael and Rachel (Neal) Leyman.

She married John Calhoun Magwire Sept. 22, 1887 in Madison, Madison, Nebraska. Together they had ll children; Vester Hayes, Garnet H., John Marion, Eunice B.(m. Richard Goldsworthy), Ruth M., Dewey W., Seldon Joseph, Floyd E., Irvin Seaton, Nellie E. and Gladys O. Magwire.

On the 1900 and 1940 census they were listed as Maguire, In 1910 and 1920 they were listed as Mcguire in 1930 they were listed as Magwire.
