Joel Midstokke, age 72, of Glenfield, North Dakota, died at his home on Thursday, December 11, 2003.

Joel was born on July 27, 1931, near Cooperstown, North Dakota, the son of Ole and Clara (Olson) Midstokke. He grew up in this area and attended school.

Joel moved to California where he worked as a painter prior to serving his county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from December 2, 1952, until November 4, 1954. After his discharge, he returned to California where he worked prior to moving back to North Dakota.

Joel lived in Hillsboro for number of years and worked for the American Crystal Sugar Beet Plant. He later moved to Lisbon, North Dakota, and then to the Glenfield area where he has lived since.

Joel is survived by his special friend, Ida Eli of rural Glenfield, North Dakota; his children, Elena (Tom) McNamee of Hillsboro, North Dakota; Malinda Duenas of Hillsboro, North Dakota; and Larry Woolery of Marysville, California; 10 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

Joel was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Joel Jr.; his brothers, Vernon and Gene; and his sisters, Orpha Pladson and Myrtice Smith.

FUNERAL: 1 PM Monday, December 15, 2003, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, North Dakota.

VISITATION: 4-6 PM Sunday at Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro - and also one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday.

BURIAL: 4 PM Monday at Ringsaker Cemetery near Cooperstown, North Dakota.
