Arthur L. Achenbach, 57, of 113 Marion Ct., Hiawatha, was killed when high winds blew a communications tower onto the Universal Gym Equipment building Monday afternoon. Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, Cedar Memeorial Chapel of Memories, with military honors by VFW Post 788. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, Dennis of Hiawatha and Edward stationed with the Air Force in Iceland; a daughter, Cindy Kaegi of Cedar Rapids; his father, Harold of Central City; two sisters, Bonnie Jayne of Olin and Ginger Cooper of Arizona; and a brother, Stanley of Mobile, Alabama.
Also surviving are two grandchildren.
Arthur was born September 1, 1934, in Coggon, to Harold and Opal Achenbach, and married Betty Van Vieck on June 2, 1956, in Cedar Rapids. He was an assembler at Universal Gym Equipment Inc. for 11 years, a member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local Union 263 and a Korean War Army veteran.
The Rev. Philip Windsor of Central Park Presbyuterian Church will officiate.
