Mrs. Henry Mertens, 92, a former Dorchester resident, died in a Colby nursing home Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. The Rev. Jacob Burggraf will officiate and burial will be in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call now at the Kraut - Maurina Funeral Funeral Home, Dorchester, where there will be a parish rosary at 8 p.m. today. The former Elizabeth Henrichs was born March 16, 1881, in Alflen Rhine, Germany. She married Henry Mertens on Oct. 28, 1902. He died July 6, 1958. They farmed in Little Black before moving to Dorchester. She moved to the nursing home in Colby in 1972. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of the church. Survivors include four sons, Alfred, Jefferson, Carl, Dorchester, George, Waukesha, and Lawrence, California; four daughters, Mrs. Clara Sailer, Owen, Mrs. Louis Scholz, and Mrs. Robert Schnedler, both of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Arnold Rhyner, Dorchester; a brother, Joseph, Milwaukee; 53 grandchildren, 150 great - grandchildren and nine great great -grandchildren.
