Enterprise - Sherwin M. Adams died peacefully surrounded by his family in Enterprise, where he lived most of his life. Sherwin was born February 7, 1924, to LeRoy and Zenetta Winsor Adams.

He graduated from Enterprise High School, served in the United States Army from January 1945 to November 1946. His battalion was in the Philippines preparing to invade Japan, when the war ended. He was with one of the first troops to occupy Japan.

Upon his return he attended Dixie College and played basketball and was selected to the all conference team.

While at Dixie, he met Patricia Vincent and they were married June 17, 1950, the marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple.

Sherwin then returned to Enterprise to run the family farm with his brothers. Starting in 1977, he and Pat enjoyed following several construction projects in Utah and Nevada, where they met many lifelong friends.

Because of Sherwin's love of sports, he enjoyed coaching and was very proud of the fact that his church volleyball teams, qualified and participated in the all church tournaments in SLC for 8 consecutive years.

He loved his garden, fishing, dutch oven cooking, was an avid Enterprise High School sports fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in all sports.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat; son, Vincent; daughters, Anita (Randy) Terry, Karen (Ron) Gardner and Mellie Adams (Jack Scott); sisters, Etta (Charles) Twitchell and Anna Seaman; sister-in-law, Lois Adams; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Tyrel Terry; parents; brothers, Herman, Winsor, Stanley, Walter, Sheldon; and sister, Loretta.

The family would like to thank Southern Utah Homecare and Hospice; Candace, Vicky, Cherry, David and Gary, for their compassionate help and support, and the staff of the Huntsman Cancer Center and Dr. Derrick Haslem.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 11, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at the Enterprise Stake Center, Enterprise, UT.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, (435) 673-2454. Friends may sign the guestbook at www.spilsburymortuary.com
