Kate received her education at Country School Ripley #8 where she completed the eighth grade.
On February 19, 1931, Kate was united in marriage with George Aalderks at her parent's home. After their marriage, George and Kate lived on a farm southeast of Kesley until they retired in 1963. At that time, they moved to Kesley.
Kate was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church and was active in the Women's Guild. Kate enjoyed baking and sharing all the goodies with her family and friends who would visit.
She also loved planting flowers and making quilts. Most of all Kate loved spending time with her family.
Kate died on Sunday, December 16, 2012, on her 101st birthday, at Maple Manor Village in Aplington, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, William, one great great-grandson, Kason Hoppenworth; two sisters, Anna Marks and Helena Schipper; four brothers, Andrew, George, John and Henry.
Kate is survived by two sons, Andy (Barb) of Kesley, and Marv (Rosie) of Parkersburg; one daughter-in-law, Phyllis of Aplington; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey (Esther) Schipper, Paul (Irma) Schipper both of Parkersburg and Lee (Dorothy) Schipper of Aplington; two sisters, Grace (Donald) Huisman and Hattie Behrends both of Wellsburg, Iowa and two sister-in-laws, Albertha Schipper of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Bea Aalderks of Chariton, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Bethel Reformed Church with burial at Bethel Reformed Cemetery both in rural Aplington.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
