"Mrs. Mary Thompson Passes Away

Mrs. Mary Thompson, wife of George Thompson, permanent rancher, residing at their beautiful home north of Kent, died Sunday afternoon, September 19th, one-thirty p.m. at Providence hospital.

Mrs. Thompson was taken ill about two weeks ago, but was able to be around most of the time. A local physician was in attendance. Her condition was not thought to be of a serious nature at first. However she grew rapidly worse and Mr. Thompson became alarmed at her condition, took her to Providence hospital where she underwent a serious operation a few days ago. all that medical skill could do was done for her, but to no avail. Peritonitis set in and she gradually grew weaker until she passed to her great reward, leaving behind to mourn her loss her bereaved husband, three brothers, William Smith of Ferndale; James of Bellingham, Martin of Kent; two sisters, Mrs. H. D. Prendergast and Mrs. Charles Williams of Kent; and an aged mother, Mrs. Anna M. Hanson of Kent.

Mrs. Mary Thompson was born in Denmark, 1862, coming to Washington at the age of eighteen years where she has resided ever since with the exception of a few years in New Jersey. Mrs. Thompson was universally honored and loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, a loving sister and a true friend and neighbor. To know her was to love her.

Funeral services were held from the Catholic church Wednesday morning at ten a.m. and interment at the Kent cemetery."
