Roxie Arlene Mathews of Fairland died at 1:55 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at her home after a long illness. She was 48.

Mathews was born April 11, 1954, in Russell, Kan., to Earl Wayne and Virginia Lee (Coker) Boyles. She attended high school in Kiefer.

She was a homemaker and worked for several years as a cashier at various grocery and convenience stores. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairland.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Baker, of the home; one son and his wife, Thomas Earl and Melissa Mathews of Magazine, Ark.; one daughter and her husband, Bobbie Jo and Jim Reed of Magazine; her father of Broken Arrow; one brother, Arthur Boyles of Mounds; six sisters, Alta Yahola of Tulsa, Myrna Catlett of Booneville, Ark., Pam McCoy of Mounds, Kathy Cook of The Woodlands, Texas, Linda Martinez of Wellington, Kan., and Danetta Steinmeyer of Broken Arrow, and four grandchildren, Austin Lane, Loren and Braylea Mathews and Levi Reed, all of Magazine.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at A.J. Powell Cemetery in Hominy with the Rev. Leo Schroeder officiating.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Cook, Rodney Cook Jr., David Yahola, Tim Byrd, Robert Steinmeyer and Randy Jones.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Fairland.
