George W. Provine.

The above named died at the residence of his son, W. S. Provine, in Scotland township, at 8 p. m. Monday, aged 84 years, 11 months and 6 days. Funeral services were held at Ebenezer church Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock.

Deceased was born in Clark county, Indiana, May 5, 1813. He came to this state when quite young and has lived in this county nearly all his life. He was married to Mary McAlary, who died 21 years ago. He leaves four sons--John A. of Canton, J. H. of this city, Hugh W. of Perry, Okla., and W. S. of Scotland township. His ailment was pneumonia complicated with old age. He was a man of upright character and respected by all his acquaintances.

Deceased had four brothers and one sister, William of Vermont, Ill., being his only survivor. He voted for Wm. H. Harrison in 1840, and for the Whig or Republican candidate for president every four years since that time, including Wm. McKinley.
