MRS. THEO BETHARDS
Allie N. Ridge was born June 6th, 1877, on a farm 4 miles north east of Shelbina. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Ridge. At the early age of 13 years, she was converted and April 25, 1891, was baptized into the fellowship of the Baptist church at Shelbyville, Mo. Several years later she transferred her church membership to Shelbina and was a member of the Shelbina church at the time of her death.
On February 8, 1903, she was was married to Theo Bethards. To this union were born two children, Lloyd, now 13 years old, and James, 7 years old. The parents had also adopted a baby girl, Etta May, now 16 months old.
She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband and three children, her father and mother, Mr, and Mrs. J. R. Ridge; two brothers, Willie of Shelbyville and Emmett of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. H. P, Sparks of this city and Mrs. John Boettcher of Los Angeles, Calif,; besides many other more distant relatives and a host of good friends.
Her death came quietly, and unobserved on Wednesday evening, April 24, 1918, at the age of 40 years, 10 months, 18 days. The funeral services were conducted from her home in the west part of the city, Friday, April 26, at 2 p. m., where a large number of her relatives and friends had gathered to pay their tribute to her memory. The services were conducted by her cousin, Lewis M. Hale of St Louis, assisted by Rev. Adolph Vollmer, and a choir from the Baptist church.
Those who have known her best are most ready to bear witness to her noble Christian character and true worth. Besides being a faithful Christian, she will always be remembered as a dutiful child, a devoted wife and mother and a faithful friend. We doubt not that the heavenly gates were wide open to welcome her spirit home, where she will patently await the coming of those whom she loved so dearly while here on earth.
