He was born July 11, 1917, in Hamilton County, Texas, the son on Bine and Nettie Baker Anderson. On Feb. 22, 1946, he married Ruth Byer; he later married Eilene Yauch Maxfield. They both preceded him in death.
Joseph worked as a meter reader and lineman for Idaho Power for more than 33 years. He also was a member of our nation's armed forces, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. His military career began on May 1, 1942, when he shipped out from Texas. Ed's military travels took him to Camp Roberts, Calif.; Cold Bay, Alaska; the Aleutian Islands; Tokyo, Japan; Vancouver, Wash.; and finally to Oakland, Calif. Ed was a member of the Presbyterian Church and loved to travel and fish.
He is survived by his children, Roxanna (Kurt) Schweizer of Buhl, Clifford (Charlotte) Maxfield of Cedar City, Utah, Robert (Meri) Maxfield of Twin Falls, Denton (Cheryl) Maxfield of McAllen, Texas, and Andrea (John) McCandless of Filer; along with 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Ruth and Eilene; his parents; and one sister, Ruth Gurland. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service for Ed will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. A memorial service will follow the graveside service at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, 516 Main St. in Buhl, with Pastor Blake Walsh conducting.
