He names his wife Mary, and children, John, Nathaniel, Ebenezer (not then 23), Abijah, Molly (Mary) , wife of Lawrence MacCloth - this spelling that of Lincoln Genealogy - Susannah, Bethsheba, Rachel and Elizabeth).
He gives his son John "my gun fixed for a bayonet" and to Ebenezer "my sword and other military accoutrements".

Between the years 1744 and 1755, the colony of Massachusetts was in an almost constant state of war with the French and Indian allies. Hostilities officially began in late May of 1744 when word reached Boston of what would become known as King George's War.
Peter, along with his brothers and sisters, participated as colony's troops and the militia force of citizen-soldiers. Universal compulsory service in the militia of all males between the ages of 16 and 60 was virtually unquestioned part of colonial life. All Massachusetts men in this period could expect to spend some part of every year either in training or actual combat. By 1750, most companies were only required to meet three times a year at times designated to minimize disruptions to the farming cycle. Companies virtually unknown in Massachusetts at this time, so almost all of it's militiamen used some kind of flintlock musket. Peter attained the rank of Sergeant and he left his gun to his son Nathaniel.
Peter died when he was only 49 years old. He was reported as "sick" when he returned on October 11, 1756 from service in Colonel Ruggles' Regiment. He appeared on the roster of the First Foot Company of Taunton in 1767 along with his brother, Paul, his nephew, Paul Jr., his cousin, Nehemiah Pratt and his uncle, Capt-Lt Samuel Pratt. His uncle lived at the Weir and was a Selectman in 1728. He is believed to be the brother of Dr. Micah Pratt.
Peter's oldest son, John and his wife, settled his estate on November 7, 1761.
Peter, like his father, mother and brother Paul, is buried in Taunton Plain Cemetery or "North Burying Grounds." The Gravestones read as follows:
