Joe Acklin Passed Away Thursday,
Services Held Saturday

Joe Acklin, Izard County pioneer passed away at Melbourne on Thursday May 17, 1956 and his funeral services were held at the Melbourne Methodist Church of which he was a member, on Saturday, May 19. Rev. D. G. Hindman, pastor delivered the memorial sermon. Interment was in the Flat Rock Cemetery.

Mr Acklin was married to Miss Jane Langston, December 30, 1900 and to them was born one daughter, Olive. His wife preceded him in death in 1905.

Joe, as everyone called him, was born at Evening Shade, Ark., February 3, 1871 and was 85 years, 3 months and fourteen days old at the time of his death.

He had been a member of Melbourne F & A M, No. 141, for more than fifty years. He was a retired farmer, merchant and a former postmaster at Wideman, Ark.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs Tom Campbell and one granddaughter, Miss Barbara Campbell of the home.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one infant daughter.
