ELKHORN - John Frank Kohler Sr., 83, 6904 West Lakeshore Drive, Elkhorn, WI, died Monday, June 27, 2005, at his residence. He was born on December 11, 1921, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of John and Clara (Hemmelgarn)Kohler. John serviced in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 14, 1942, until January 11, 1948, with a tour duty in Rhineland, Central Europe, and the Ardennes Campaign. On July 7, 1944, John married Elizabeth F. Miller in Alexandria, LA. John worked for over 25 years for Chrystler Corp. of Belvidere, IL; he retired in 1987. John was a former scout mater for Tibbets Troop #230. He was a member of the 84th Infantry Division of the Rail Splitters Company G. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth; 2 daughters, Carol (Tom) Jensen of Elkhorn, WI, and Barbara (Dale) Falconer of Winnebago, IL; a son, John F. Kohler Jr. of Elkhorn; 6 grandchildren: Kellie and Michael Walton, Abraham and Caleb Jensen, Matthew Kohler, and Anndrea Reese; 6 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Cassandra, Montgomery, Lydia, Landyn and Carmel; a brother, Paul (Connie) Kohler of Everett, WA; and a sister, Harriet (Charles) Weidinger of Manhatten, IL. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Kohler; and a granddaughter, Brittney Kohler. Private funeral services will be held at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, with Bernice Bassing, VNA Chaplin, officiating. Memorials may be made in John's name to VNA-Hospice, 500 Interchange North, Lake Geneva, WI 53147.
