Nancy Dodge Brown, second wife of Timothy Wheeler, was the daughter of a well known preacher, Jordon Dodge whom eventually settled around the Uniontown, Pa. area. She and Timothy had five children of which only one lived past their first year, namely Sarah Ann. Four infant children should be buried in this cemetery with Nancy.

The following is from "Missiskoui Standard and Frelighsburg Gazette, 2 June 1835:

Birth "on the 18th ult., at Caldwell's Manor, Mrs. Timothy Wheeler, of two sons."

Mrs. Nancy Dodge Brown was from Ferrisburg Vermont, former wife of Thomas Brown of Monkton Vermont.

A letter from Nancy's sister Assenath in 1826 states that her father Jordan Dodge was engaged in litigation with Thomas Brown, his son-in-law, and had obtained thirteen judgements and executions against him. Mr. Brown refused to attend court, and her father took out a warrant and had Brown put in jail, where he had been for a year and a half.

She adds that when her father was not attending court he was making poetry about Brown's conduct.

Highgate Vermont did NOT have a record of the marriage of Timothy and Nancy Dodge Brown, which took place on July 7, 1831 per Philander Wheeler. Perhaps in 1831, Highgate was still Quebec, therefore no record of the marriage in Vermont.
