SMITH, SR., GLEN A. Of Rockwall, TX, passed away March 20, 2008. He was born May 24, 1939, in Normal, IL, to Myers & Marybelle (Miller) Smith. Glen was the owner of Curry Auto Leasing in Dallas, TX, for many years until his retirement in September, 2005. In March, 2007, he opened Smittys Roadhouse Bar & Grill in Rockwall, TX, which he owned and operated until his death. He was a race car driver all of his life, racing in the 24 hours of LeMans in France and receiving the 1986 Formula Atlantic Indy Car Rookie of the Year Award. Glen was a member of the Rockwall Breakfast Rotary Club, and was also a City of Rockwall Planning & Zoning Commissioner. He enjoyed living life to the fullest. Glen attended Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, TX.
He is survived by his wife: Peggy (Pannell) Smith; children: Kimberli Geissler Smith of Ft. Worth, TX, Glen Allen Smith, Jr. of Dallas, TX and Katy Chesshir of Sachse, TX; stepchildren: Cristina Hoff of Forney, TX and Joel Rhorer of Prairie Home, MO; granddaughter: Ashlie Chesshir; sister: Jeanne Pratt of Trophy Club, TX; and brothers: Dale Smith of Indianapolis, IN, and Larry Smith of Oklahoma City, OK. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Don Smith. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Monday, March 24, 2008, at First Baptist Church, 610 S. Goliad, Rockwall, TX, with Dr. Bob Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
