The HISTORY OF BURT COUNTY 1802-1929

Gust W. Nelson was born in Burt County near Oakland on May 11, 1884, a son of Peter N. and Ida Gustafson-Nelson. He attended country schools, and also North Park College in Chicago for one year. After finishing school he lived in Lincoln until 1910 when he returned to Oakland and became a member of the firm of Star Mercantile Co., which succeeded the Lindahl Bros. General Merchandise. He continued with the Star Mercantile until 1919 when he severed his connections with it and formed a partnership with C.O. Larson and conducted a general merchandise store until 1926 as Larson & Nelson. In 1926 he purchased the interest of Mr. Larson and now owns and conducts the business known as the Gus. W. Nelson General Merchandise Store. He married Julia Augusta Anderson of Cuming county on Sept. 25, 1912 and the have four sons, Vincent, Lester, Emery and Merlin.
