. Oquawka, Ill —Mrs. Julia Ann Hastings Chapin died June 30, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mervin Norville, of Bald Bluff neighborhood where she had been living for the past 6 months, and where she had been bedfast for the past 4 months. Mrs. Chapin had been in ill health for the last 15 years.
. A native of Platt county, Mo., she was born Nov. 29, 1878, and was the daughter of Henry and Mary Berry Hastings. Her early life was spent at Bean Lake. Mo.
. On July 27, 1898, she was married to Frank Chapin, who died March 3, 1947. She had been a resident of Oquawka vicinity for about 48 years.
. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Margaret E. Norville and Clayton Chapin, Oquawka; Mrs. Eva Patton, Burlington, Mrs. Clara Coffman, Kansas City, Mo., and Virl Chapin of Guerneville, Calif. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
. A son, Marion Chapin, died in infancy, and 3 brothers also are dead.
