JOHANNES, George J. Passed away peacefully with his wife Marion (nee Drinkwater) at his side, on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital, at the age of 85. George is survived by his daughters, Wende (Kevin) Devine, Dawn (Christopher) Markoff, and Patricia (Bruce) Gingrich. He will be missed by his grandchildren Hillarie, Adam, Jessie and Jake. Also survived by his step-children, Anita, Tina and Steven, seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. George was predeceased by his first wife Joan (nee Lundy); and his parents James and Clara Johannes. He is also survived by his sisters Mary (Rusty) Beckman, Marjorie (Duncan) Findlay, Louise (Douglas) Dakin; and brothers Robert and Douglas (Keitha) Johannes. George was born and raised in Blair and spent most of his life in the Cambridge area until he retired in Muskoka. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and long time member of the Blair Hunt Club. George served in the Canadian Navy and followed by careers in construction, insurance, real estate and furniture sales. He was a chartered member of the Galt Rotary Club and an adherent at the Baptist Church. George's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception. Interment at Blair Cemetery. Visit www.henrywalser.com for George's memorial.
