Edwin Raymond (Ray) Allen, age 22, of 188 1/2 South Cedar Street, Galesburg, was found dead at his apartment home on Friday, April 13, 1973.

He has worked as a laborer for the Rowe Manufacturing Company for the past four months. He had resided in the Abingdon-Galesburg area most of his lifetime. He attended the Abingdon Schools and Carl Sandburg College. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born November 23, 1950, in Avon, Illinois, the son of Albert Ardell and Juanita Heaton Allen. He was never married.

Surviving is his mother, Mrs. John Pippin, Monmouth, Ill; three brothers, Samuel of Avon, Ill; Ronald of San Jose, California, and Jerry of Abingdon, Ill; one sister, Mrs. James (Jenny) Dickerson of Abingdon Ill; one half-brother, Daniel Allen, Galesburg, Ill; his stepmother, Bertha Allen of Galesburg and maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ivan Butterfield of Effingham.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Paulson, of the Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial was at the Abingdon Cemetery. Pallbearers were James, Paul, Wesley, and Dale Allen.

Pallbearers were James Allen, Paul Allen, Wesley Allen, and Dale Allen. Organist was Mrs. Arduty Tubbs and the vocalist Mr. & Mrs. David Snyder.

Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery.
