Johannes Vogt was born in the year 1714 in Fronhausen Hessen-Kessel,Saxony,Germany.He met his wife Catherine Elizabeth Cunningham and fell in love they wanted to get married her parents said no.She was 14 years younger then him and supposibly of Scotish noble birth on her fathers side.So they ran away together on the ship Ann and sailed to America on the way the cargo ship lost most of their possesions and some of his money.They landed in Philidelphia and got married in September 1749.They were married until his death many years later.Because the clerks in Philidelphia spoke little or no German they mispelled the name and wrote it the way it sounded so the name became Fite.They had nine children Peter,Catherine,Christina,John,Leonard,And Mary.
Johannes was welthy in Germany and toke money he had wih him when he landed in America he became a millwright and by
his death had numerous acres of land and a few small buisnesses on his land.He was lutheran by faith.He died in the year of our lord 1784 in the month of June,in the city of Oxford,Sussex County,New Jersey.He was burried in SAINT
JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH in the township of Grennwich,Sussix
County,New Jersey.
