Excerpt -- Mrs. Frances Pierce, 85, widow of Hugh Morgan Pierce and mother of Lee N. Pierce of Fairmont Ave., died at about 11:30 o'clock this morning in her home on Alta Vista Ave. after a short illness with paralysis. Mrs. Pierce was had resided in this county for about 60 years. Her husband, the late Hugh M. Pierce, was a veteran of the Civil War and he died about 9 years ago. Mrs. Pierce was born in 1843 in Preston County and descended from pioneer stock of that county. Surviving are the following children: Lee N. Pierce, Guy Pierce, Clyde Pierce all of Fairmont, and Christian Fleming Pierce who resides elsewhere. One son, Jesse Pierce is deceased. The body will be removed to the home of Lee N. Pierce. Funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon, burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
