Franklin was born March 16, 1931, in Perry, the son of Wesley Edwin and Gladys Helene (Johnson) Pottle. Franklin was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He married Ardella Wilson in 1950 and worked at Guilford Industries for several years. In 1957 Franklin and Ardella produced a daughter, Lani, then moved to Maryland in 1961. The couple divorced in 1981 and Franklin moved to Rehobeth Beach, Delaware briefly before returning back to Maine where he worked as a mechanic in the Calais area for many years. He passed away from cancer at Calais Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Leonard Pottle and Richard Pottle. Surviving are his two brothers, Carroll, Shirl, and sister Marvelle(Sis)plus many nieces and nephews.
