Mr. Kessler, an aged gentleman, died at his residence, near Jamesburg, on the third of September, in his seventy-fifth year.
He had been complaining for several years and at times was a great sufferer though not confined to his bed until a few days previous to his death, when, seemingly he fell asleep, and was aroused occasionally to take some nourishment. Mr. Kessler emigrated to Kansas from Virginia in 1873 and shared the disadvantages of a frontier life. With his good management and industrious family he accumulated quite a fortune.
He was an honest man - the noblest work of God - a kind husband, an indulgent father, a good neighbor and a faithful Christian. Truly he was ready to die peacefully with the promise, "Come ye blessed of my Father, possess the kingdom prepared for you. Mourn not dear friends, you are assured that he is at rest."
