His first wife was Jennie Hall. They were married on April 25, 1904 in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union was born four children (that are known). They were Dorothy, Charles, Coyla, and Pauline.
After Charley and Jennie divorced, he married Grace Mary (Madison ) Ruffner on November 11, 1916 in Des Moines. She had two children Reginald and Gladys Ruffner. To this union was born seven children: William, Roy, Helen, Ruth, Esther, Arthur and Harold.
