Mrs Flora Basiger, 85, of Santa Monica, California, and a former State Center resident, passed away April 14 in Santa Monica.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Wensel-Perrin Funeral Home with Rev Norman Lawton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment was in Hillside cemetery.

Mrs Basiger was born Flora Silfies, June 9, 1880 in Kansas the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Halterman Siflies. She was reared and educated in Kansas. She was united in marriage to Fred Jennings in 1900 and he passed away in 1905.

She was married to James Basiger in 1910 and they farmed near State Center until his death in 1949. She then moved to Santa Monica where she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs Kenneth Hahn.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs Albert Henze of State Center, Mrs Hahn of Santa Monica and Mrs Frank Snyder of Marshalltown; a son Chester Jennings of Los Angeles, California. Also surviving is a twin sister, Mrs Emma Clapp of Emporia, Kansas. Eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
