Estimated Birth Year: 1833Emily Ann Rayner was born on the 5th of July 1833 in Heydon, Suffolk County, England. Her parents were John Rayner and Elizabeth Thompson. Her siblings were: Elizabeth Rayner; William Rayner; John Rayner; Jeremiah "Jerry" Rayner; Benjamin Rayner; Charles Rayner; George Rayner and Celista Rayner. Since Benjamin Rayner was born in Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada on the 7th of June 1846 and Jeremiah was born September 1842 in Heydon, Norfolk County, England; the Rayner Family immigrated to Ontario, Canada after 1842 and before 1846. Emily Ann's paternal grandparents Thomas Rayner and Elizabeth nee Blyth of Bligh immigrated also to Ontario and they were living with Emily and her family on the Ontario 1852 Census. She married Stephen Spicer on the 17th of April 1854 at St. James Anglican Church, Dundas, Wentworth, Canada West(1867 named Ontario), Canada. After the death of her husband Emily remarried the widower Thomas Arnold. Emily had 7 children from Stephen Spicer: Elizabeth Ann; William Edward; John; Elizabeth; Emily Ann; Ransford Frances "Rance"; and it has been thought that Mary Jane was the daughter of Stephen Spicer. Mary Jane was born on the 11th of May 1871 in Beverly, Wentworth County, Ontario and it has been stated that Emily was expecting her when Stephen Spicer passed away so when she was born her mother was married to Thomas Arnold therefore her surname was Arnold. Mary Jane married Charles Amos Mann. Emily had another daughter from Thomas Arnold-Maria who was born on the 10th of August 1874. She was married to David Ariss Holloway. Their names on on the headstone picture that we took when we visited July 2012. My husband's grandmother would have him drive her to this cemetery. His grandmother was the granddaughter of this individual.
Her obituary from the "Brantford Weekly Expositor", Brantford, Ontario, Canada; 20 November 1902, Thursday; page 4; states:
"Old Mrs. Arnold, who has of late been residing with her daughters in this village, and who has for sometime been suffering with a cancer to the face, passed quietly away last Thursday evening, the 13th after much suffering. The funeral took place on the following Sunday afternoon. Interment at Scotland cemetery. The services were conducted at the house and Baptist church by Rev. Mr. Cook. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved friends."

Her second marriage record on Ancestry.ca states Emily Ann Spicer, widow, 36 years, born in England and daughter of John Rayner and Elizabeth married on the 19 October 1870 at the bridegroom's home in Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Thomas Arnold, widower, 47 years, born in England and son of James and Mary Arnold. Both Emily Ann (Rayner) Spicer and Thomas Arnold were residents of Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada.

Her first marriage took place on the 17 April 1854 at St. James Church, Dundas, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada to Stephen Spicer. Stephen Spicer, resident of Ancaster and Emily Ann Rayner of Beverly were married by the Rector of Ancaster, William McNeanary. The witnesses of this marriage were her siblings, William Rayner and Eliza Rayner.

Maria Arnold, who is recorded on this headstone was born 10 August 1873 at Beverly Township, Wentworth County, Ontario, Canada. Her parents were given as Thomas Arnold and Emily Rayner.
