The 2nd child of Charles & Marietta Kegley, he attended Milligan College in Tennessee. On May 30 1932 he married Isabelle Christine Green in Lakewood, Ohio. The family lived in Brecksville, Ohio where he worked for a steel company in Cleveland, Ohio, in quality and management. They had two children. Ernest and his wife retired to Pickens, South Carolina, in the late 1960's. Following her death, he returned to Kent, Ohio, where he lived the remainder of his life.
