Luther Calvin DeVaul
Luther Calvin DeVaul, known as "Cal" DeVaul, died at Coquille, Tuesday, hastened by the sudden disappearance of his son, Melvin about 1 1/2 years ago. He was born at Trent, Grundy Co., Mo. in March 1852, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. James R. DeVaul, who for a number of years made their home in Myrtle Point and passed away there. There are 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Two sisters and 1 brother survive, Mrs. J.H. Roberts of Myrtle Point, Mrs James Dunlap and Jasper DeVaul of Orange, Calif. Cal spent the most of his early life in eastern Oregon and Douglas county, also lived some time in California. About 10 years ago he returned to Oregon and lived a great part of his time on a ranch at Big Creek. Buried at Myrtle Point.
