BELVEDERE, S.C. Helen Phillips Clayton, 70, beloved wife of Charles A. Clayton, of Edisto Dr., entered into rest Friday, November 4, 2011 at Doctors Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011 from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Jay Knox officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Clayton, daughter of the late Roy and Ethel Gertrude Phillips, was a native of Statesboro, GA, but had made the Augusta area her home for most of her life. She had retired as a secretary from Broad Street Management.

Mrs. Clayton was of the Presbyterian faith and had been a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Harold Phillips, Bernard Phillips, Warren Phillips, Durham Phillips, Edward Phillips, Eugene Phillips, Carlton Phillips, Louise Hobbs and Carolyn Waller.

In addition to her husband she was the beloved mother of her son, Mark Clayton; and her daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and David Horne; her sisters, Mary Howell and her husband Ben, and Patricia Franca; and her grandchildren, Morgan Clayton, Justin Horne and Mackenzie Horne.
