IN MEMORY
Lola Mae Lakey, 83, of 2024 Jackson, died Wednesday (March 22, 2000) in Blessing Hospital.
She was born April 24, 1916 in Quincy, a daughter of George Mathias Slater and Lillian Mary Elizabeth Niehaus Slater.
On November 23, 1939, she married Kenneth M. Lakey in Quincy. He survives at the home.
Mrs. Lakey was employed as a clerk for J.C. Penny for many years and for 10 years at Moorman Manufacturing Co. in the stock room.
Mrs. Lakey was a member of the Eastern Star and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid bowler when she was younger and she always loved music and played the organ.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a son, Richard Boyce Lakey and his wife, Nancy, of Wichita, Kan.; a daughter, Judith Ann Pipe and her husband, John, of Peoria; four grandchildren, Richard Scott Lakey and his wife, Kimberly, of Eldorado, Kan., Christina Ann Dick and her husband, Earl, of Vally Center, Kan. , Brian Pipe of Dallas, Texas and Christian Pipe of Peoria. Three Great- grandchildren, Mike and Bradley Lakey, both of Eldorado, and Kayleigh Dick of Valley Center; three step great-grandchildren, Michael, Cala, and Nicole, all of Eldorado; three sisters, Margaret Gower of Quincy, Lillian McCormick of Burlington, Iowa, and Irene Donhardt and her husband, Ben, of Normal; a brother William Slater and his wife, Helen, of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lakey was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, George Slater; and two sisters, Katherine Griffin and Hazel Hertzler.
Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home by the Rev. Henry Pratt. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Faith Christian Church.
