A retired farmer, he had lived near Choctaw since 1914. He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge there. Born in Tennessee, he came to Oklahoma from Arkansas.
Survivors include five daughters Mrs. Navada VanFelt, MeCroy, Ark.; Mrs. Wilda Turner, Clarksville. Ark.; Mrs. Fay Bauman, 1513 SW 26; Mrs. Doris L. Dalton, Edmond; and Mrs Edna Haley, Choctaw; three sons: Roy, Route 11, City; Jim and Joe, both of Choctaw and 21 grandchildren.
