David Foster, age 52 years, died at his home in Boone last Saturday after a long period of illness from an incurable malady.

Funeral services were conducted from the Boone Baptist Church Sunday afternoon by Reverends P. A. Hicks and W. C. Greene and interment was in the Deep Gap neighborhood. Active pall bearers were: George Greene, Charles Rogers, Watt Beach, Clyde Greene, Milton Greer and Frank Moore. Honorary: W. D. Hampton, J. S. Stanbury, Isaac Barnett, R. L. Bingham, Will Coffey and Jim Cooke.

A profuse floral offering was borne by Christine Gragg, Clara Coffey, Martha Moore, Mrs. George Greene, Mrs. Sherman Holler, Mrs. Charles Rogers, Margaret Holler, Hilda Cook and Ruby Greene.

Mr. Foster was a native of Wilkes County, but made his home in Boone for the past several years, where he operated the Black Bear Service Station. He came here from Ohio where he had been engaged in the mercantile business. He served the the regular United States Army during the Philippine insurrection from 1904 to 1907.

Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and until ill health developed, was active in religious councils. He had surrounded himself by a wide circle of friends in Boone and the county, drawn to him on account of his many traits of upright citizenship.

Surviving is the widow, three brothers and two sisters: Jess Foster, of North Wilkesboro; James Foster, of Shelby; W. J. Foster, of Brookford; Mesdames Mary Woody of Brookford and Ethel Caldwell of Belmont.
