ACKERMAN - Vernon I. Durham, 68, died Friday at Veteran's Hospital in Jackson. Services are at 2 p.m. today at Providence Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Adams-Nowell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
A native of Clay County, he had lived in Ackerman since 1977. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E.G. Durham; three sisters, Mae Weeks of Shreveport, La., Bernice Westly of Mathiston and Martha Roberts of Pensacola, Fla.; three brothers, Roscoe Durham of Walls, Lovie Durham of Bossier City, La., and Walter Durham of California.
