Mrs. George Whetstine Rites Held Friday

Ida Leona Poland Whetstine, daughter of Simon and Mary Sigler Plans was born near West Chester, Iowa, July 22, 1860 passed away in Washington hospital August 13, 1947. Age 87 years and 22 days.

January 18, 1883 she was united in marriage to George Whetstine and to this union one daughter was born. The husband and father preceded her in death January 19, 1940.

In her girlhood Mrs. Whetstine became a member of the United Brethren church and later in life transferred to Wellman Methodist church. Eighteen years ago due to failing health they moved from the farm which had been their home for 45 years to Wellman where she lived until May 16, 1946 when she fell and fractured her hip and the rest of the time, with the exception of 5 weeks was spent in the hospital.

She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Mrs. Georgia Fritz of Iowa City; one great-grandson Bobby Frits of Iowa City; three half-sisters, Mrs. June Gardner and Mrs. Lida Freel of Wellman; Mrs. Edith Cullumber of Mt. Vernon, other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Wellman, August 15 at 3 o'clock with Rev. Pinnell in charge.

Interment was in the Wellman cemetery.
